Where to stay in downtown Minneapolis?

I stayed at two different properties during my stay, either of which I would recommend for different reasons:

Hyatt Regency Minneapolis: Located on Nicollet Mall, this large convention hotel is well-placed to walk to many places of interest. Book this hotel with well-appointed and comfortable rooms. Avoid the pool room – it is a room on the pool deck. You’ll need to keep the curtains closed for privacy and the smell of chlorine is overwhelming!

Elliot Park Hotel, Autograph Collection: This hotel is closer to the U.S. Bank Center and a great place to stay if you’re going to a concert or game. It was close to public transportation and the skyway. But what sets this hotel apart is the service – from check-in to the bar, everyone was super helpful!
