1. Goldsboro Brew Works

207 North John Street, Goldsboro – Website

This Veteran owned bottle shop and taproom offers both local and international beers and even some wines. With a dedicated game room, this place gets really busy after 10 pm, which is only appropriate since it is open until midnight weeknights and 1 am on Friday and Saturday nights. Serving 30 beers on tap, in addition to cold beers in bottles and cans, there is sure to be something for everyone. 

Check out trivia night on Thursday evenings. Visitors on weekend nights will find a music act entertaining the crowd from the front of the taproom. Food trucks frequently stop by to keep customers’ bellies full while they enjoy a pint. 

With plans to brew their own beers soon, keep an eye out for their own fresh take on craft beer!

2. Well Travelled Beer

201 South Center Street, Goldsboro – Website

This combination bottle shop and bar is Veteran owned and operated. Located in downtown Goldsboro, visitors will find a selection of beers and wine for every taste, from PBR to craft beer. Knowledgeable bartenders can help you navigate all the selections and make great gift choices.

Check out their special events. Held on the first Friday of every month, Metal Midnight serves up everything a metal fan desires. The last Monday of every month is Vinyl Night. Or come for their once a month movie night and kick back with one of their fresh taps or a bottle purchase.

Store hours vary but you can generally visit until 11 pm during the week and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

3. 18th Amendment Lounge

217 North John Street, Goldsboro – Website

Looking for something a little more refined? How about a speak-easy? Savor classic and modern cocktails in a relaxed setting featuring exposed brick walls. A light menu is offered for guests who prefer the laid back atmosphere in the lounge compared to the fancier downstairs dining room at Barrique. With five offerings including chips, pasta, calamari, brisket, and ahi tacos, affordably priced at $6 to $16, guests will enjoy a light meal while enjoying their beverage. This fully stocked bar also offers beer and wine options. 

Enjoy Tacos and Tequila and Karaoke on Wednesday nights. Live music starts at 7 pm every Saturday. Or showcase your talents during a monthly open mic night.

The 18th Amendment Lounge is open until midnight during weeknights and until 1 am on Friday and Saturday nights.

4. Tobacco and Hops

Fans of cigars and pipes should check out Tobacco and Hops. Open noon to 10 pm during the week and noon to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Housing a large 425-square foot walk-in humidor, guests find a variety of options to meet every taste and budget. 

Sit back in a recliner chair while smoking your favorite find. Watch the sports action on one of several large-screen TVs. Savor one of four tap beers or other beverages available while mingling with neighbors from all walks of life who share one passion – the love of a good cigar or pipe.

5. Paramount Theater

Opening its doors in 2008, the newly rebuilt Paramount Theater hosts performing arts acts — from plays, concerts, and movies. Located in a can’t miss spot on South Center Street, a perfect downtown Goldsboro night easily includes a show at this beautiful theater. 6. Jay’s Sushi & Burger Bar

While Jay’s restaurants are great places to eat, Jay’s Sushi & Burger Bar also offers a great full-service bar. Don’t miss a visit on Friday and Saturday evenings where musicians showcase live performances beginning at 7 pm. With several rotating acts, guests have an opportunity to either catch a different performer each time or return for their favorites.

Check out local artists’ work on the first Friday of every month. Or how about attending a drum circle every fourth Friday? Or showcase your talents on Open Mic night every third Saturday.

Their special events are a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors, enjoy their talents, and to spend an enjoyable evening doing something a little different from the ordinary as no two events will be the same.

Spend an evening with your friends trying to escape from a room. Pick one of two rooms in which your team has 60 minutes to solve the clues to get out. Open until 10 pm Thursday through Sunday, it is a great group activity, or ask to join another group. But make a reservation ahead of time if you want to play!

9. Ghosts of Ghostborough Tour

116 North William Street, Goldsboro – Website

Offered once a month from May through August, enjoy a three-hour walking tour of downtown Goldsboro with a paranormal investigator. At $15 per person, this is one of the more unique ways to spend a night in Goldsboro!

10. Tufano’s Wine Bar

Opening in the Spring of 2020 is the first dedicated wine bar. In addition to enjoying a glass of wine (and being able to purchase a bottle to take home), guests will be able to select some light fare. Currently in development (according to their Facebook posts) are a charcuterie plate and fresh cannolis.

11. R&R Brewing (Mt. Olive)

541 Northwest Center Street, Mt. Olive – Website

R&R Brewing is the epitome of a neighborhood brewery. This three-barrel brewhouse delivers a variety of craft brews from lagers to wheats to stouts to New England IPAs to IPAs. The brewery provides an environment where patrons can rest, relax, and enjoy, alone or with friends. Try their Pickletown Lager (additional pickle optional) and their Farmer’s Hours Saison.

Thursday nights, R&R Brewing hosts trivia night. Music bingo and food trucks make an appearance on some Fridays. But if you’re looking for live music, visit on Saturday night. R&R closes at 10:30 pm on Thursday and Friday and 11 pm on Saturday.
