Should you stay at the Grand Bohemian hotel on your next trip to Charlotte? Read detailed feedback, including expectations and visit tips.
This is not a sponsored post and I paid for my own stay at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte. All views expressed are my own. But don’t you want to know whether this hotel is as good as it looks on the hotel’s website?
Located just a few hours away from Durham, NC (my home) and home to my oldest son, I frequently visit Charlotte. During my last visit, I decided to treat myself to a stay at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charlotte. My readers know by now that I’m a massive fan of Marriott Hotels.
From the moment you walk into the lobby, you know you’ve arrived at a luxurious hotel. The entire hotel has an Argentina theme that carries all the delicate touches, from art to food options. This hotel exemplifies boutique in all of the details.

Setting Expectations

Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte: check-out the rating and read recent reviews here – at the time of our travel Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte was #1 of 213 hotels in Charlotte.
Grand Bohemian Hotel Property
The hotel is self-contained within one 16-story building. The 254 room hotel is a smoke-free facility.
Stroll the art exhibits located on Floors 5 and 6.
Special Note on Customer Service: Customer Service is open 24/7 – there is always someone in there regardless of the time of day. Everyone who I dealt with at Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte’s customer service was terrific. Thank you.
Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte review – Property – Fantastic.
Restaurants and Bars
Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte has four food and drinks options.
Mico Restaurant: Located on the ground floor, this full-service restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Wine lovers will be amazed by the selection offered by the wine cellar. The restaurant specializes in high-altitude wines, so I recommend a Malbec flight. The menu offers a twist on Argentine foods while utilizing local food sources.
Búho: This rooftop bar and tapas restaurant offers magnificent views of Charlotte. Access is restricted. I recommend the cocktails flight so you can try three cocktails before you commit to one. Order one of the fabulous tapas entrees, which you can either share with your companions or keep to yourself. We enjoyed the lamb sliders though the menu is constantly changing.
The Bohemian Garden: No time for a sit-down meal? Grab a quick sandwich or salad for lunch or dinner at the Bohemian Garden. Enjoy your food at the outside seating area, where you’ll have lovely views of Charlotte. Keep in mind that this facility is not open year-round.
Starbucks: For those of us addicted to caffeine jolts, having a Starbucks inside the hotel is a great perk.
PRO TIP: Call ahead and reserve a spot on the terrace at Búho around sunset!
Grand Bohemian Hotel Review – Restaurants: Great but pricey!
Fitness & Wellness
Note: There is no pool at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte, so leave your swimsuit at home.
There is a gym available 24/7. Equipment is very basic but features cardio machines and free weights so you can maintain your exercise routine.
The onsite full-service spa, Poseidon Spa, offers various treatments, from couples’ massages to facials to eye and lip treatments. I did not utilize any of these services, so I cannot comment on them.
I love relaxing in a pool, so I was disappointed that there wasn’t one available to guests.
Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte review – Fitness – OK.
Accessibility
The Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte is a wheelchair-accessible hotel. Ask for an accessible room if you need it. Service animals are welcome. Every bathroom has a roll-in shower, grab bars and adjustable shower head. Doors feature levers instead of knobs with locks lowered for safety. Hearing accessible rooms are available.
My Grand Bohemian Hotel Room
My king-size room included a view of the First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte. A lounge chair placed by the window offered a comfy spot for me to read while enjoying the view. For those working during their stay, the desk is roomy enough to spread out.
The quirky, mismatched nightstands and the artwork on the walls created a dramatic decor for the bedroom.
The pillow top bed with its luxurious down bedding and pillow lulled me into the perfect night’s sleep. While I usually toss and turn at night, I woke up in the same spot where I fell asleep — that says volumes!
Coffee, decaffeinated coffee, tea, and a condiment packet were next to the coffee-maker. A mini-fridge in the room kept my water bottle nice and cold.
The black and white marble bathroom with a walk-in shower was luxurious. Bathroom amenities included a hairdryer, magnifying mirror, towels, soap, conditioner shampoo, body wash, and lotion.
The room was cleaned daily, and my cleaner did a fantastic job!
Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte review – Room – EXCELLENT.
Security
As a woman often traveling alone, security is high on my list of requirements for a good resort. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that safety was also high on management’s list. A security guard was present in the lobby near the elevators at all times.
To access guest floors, you need to wave your room key in front of the elevator call panel. The panel alerts you to which elevator takes you to your floor. Non-guests need the security guard to let them onto the public gallery floors. I liked knowing that only guests staying on my floor could access the floor.
My Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte room had a Safe located in a dresser drawer. It was easy to program and was large enough to fit my iPad and other electronics, though I don’t think my laptop would have fit.
Internet
The Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte’s WiFi was fabulous, and I had no issues with it, no matter whether I used it in my room, the lobby, or the rooftop. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, my internet access is free (one of the many perks!).
Parking
The Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte offers valet parking at $38 per day. There is no self-parking at the hotel, though there is a public parking lot across the street if you’d like to save some money. Metered parking on the street is limited.
DON’T FORGET TIPS: In the US, it is traditional to tip your servers, car valets, maid, the bartender, and the valet who carries your suitcases. Budget yourself (and have cash) to give a few dollars to everyone and more to anyone who exceeded your expectations.
What’s Around & Things To Do In Charlotte
Due to its central location, there are a ton of places to go around the hotel. Several museums are literally a few blocks away.
Within easy walking distance are fabulous restaurants and bars — the best the city has to offer. My favorites are MOA Korean BBQ, The King’s Kitchen (where you do good while eating well!), and Tupelo Honey (casual).
Nearby Concord is the home of NASCAR and worth a day trip at least. Check out the best things to see and do in Concord.
Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte review – Charlotte Things To Do – VERY GOOD.
